History of Our Exercise Rehabilitation Service
ExerciseRx is comprised of staff who have been involved in the development of a service that is dedicated to the robust and safe exercise physiology prescription for clinical populations- something which had not been available in New Zealand until we came along.
This exclusive service was first established to help those clients with medical insurance to return to work. The model which was created at a University clinic was formed using principles of clinical exercise physiology, health behaviour change, disability management and occupational medicine.
The result was a rehabilitation programme that took a holistic approach to an individual’s disability and was focused around the singular objective of enabling an individual to safely optimise their ability to do the normal things of life – work, socialise and be physically active.
Over the years, this specialised service has been refined under the management of ExerciseRx. Our staff have gained the experience and have been exposed to (if not, actively involved in developing) the research and the ongoing changes that are being made in the medical and scientific research and industry. This has allowed us to keep up with the best ways to exercise with a severe medical conditions and a vast array of symptoms. As developers of this clinic we have taken our extensive knowledge and experience and used it as evidence to prove its growing importance in NZ.
“Exercise is the most important step you can take to getting your life back on track”
Having been in this “new” industry in NZ from its inception, this places us in a very good position to be able to help you. We have worked extremely hard at tailoring our service to suit the needs of our clients (private or under insurance) and we have had great joy in seeing them learn to manage their chronic conditions and ultimately return to work and resume life.
Given our many years of dedicated focus, ExerciseRx has managed to develop a service that is so much more than just exercise. It is medicine and a form of “treatment” for those who have run out of options.
