Want a Productivity Boost at Work?

Thinking outside the square at work may be as easy as going outside your cubicle...

People who exercise on regular basis are also better at creative thinking. So if you've been stuck on a task for a while, taking a walk during your lunch break may be just the thing to get you through the mental block.

Exercise increases creativity

Using the ‘break time’ at work for exercise, employees can also improve their work-life balance because their workout time isn’t compacted into a busy personal/family time. There a are studies that show for employees who were more physically active, work burnout was less likely to develop into depression. In this study, the best benefits were achieved by people who exercised 4 hours a week.

Some exercise is better than no exercise so don’t be to hard on yourself, if you can only fit in 20 min workouts 3 days a week.

It’s better to have a some regular exercise than to burnout on a workout routine you can’t keep up. Schedule your exercise breaks on your calendar so you have the time in your day reserved and can schedule work meetings around it. If you plan to exercise around lunchtime, try taking up things like yoga or pilates where you are less likely to work up a sweat!

Be more productive

Making time during your regular work day to exercise can lead to higher productivity without adding extra time at the end of the day.

Why? Because exercise fuels your brain and helps you be more productive.

Employees that make the time for regular exercise in a way that makes the most impact for their fitness level will benefit the most. Leaders who encourage employees to be healthy while at work and allow those who are interested to slip away for a yoga or gym class will likely find employees return to work with more energy, focused and more productive during the day.
